About Leoni
Leoni Zakarias is a Chinese Medicine practitioner, Acupuncturist, herbalist, Clinical Nutritionist and bodyworker with more than 15 years of clinical experience. Her approach combines the wisdom of Chinese Medicine with a modern understanding of nutrition and pathology testing, allowing her to support patients with both an appreciation of current biomedical knowledge and the broader, interconnected perspective that sits at the heart of Chinese Medicine.
Leoni works with people experiencing a wide range of health concerns and has particular interests in digestive health, children’s health, hormonal balance, fertility, emotional wellbeing and chronic health conditions. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, she draws on Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Tui Na bodywork, Clinical Nutrition and functional pathology testing to create personalised treatment plans that support each person’s individual health goals.
Food has always been central to Leoni’s philosophy. She believes that nourishment is one of the foundations of health and enjoys helping people understand how the food they eat can support healing and long-term wellbeing. Combining traditional Chinese dietary therapy with modern nutritional science, she offers practical, individualised guidance that complements each treatment plan. Her love of cooking, home-grown produce, herbs, spices and exploring different cuisines continues to inspire both her work and her everyday life.
Leoni’s journey into Chinese Medicine began after years spent working outdoors and travelling. Along the way she discovered the profound importance of touch, deep listening, support and genuine human connection in promoting health and wellbeing. She first studied nutrition and a variety of massage modalities before discovering Tui Na, the therapeutic bodywork of Chinese Medicine. The philosophy of Chinese Medicine immediately resonated with her, leading her to continue her studies in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. More than 12 years later, she continues to approach her work with curiosity, always integrating new knowledge while remaining grounded in the enduring principles of Chinese Medicine.
Leoni believes that good healthcare is about more than relieving symptoms. She enjoys partnering with her patients to help them better understand their health, supporting them with realistic, achievable changes that encourage resilience and lasting wellbeing. Whether someone is seeking support for a specific condition or looking to improve their overall health, she aims to create a welcoming space where people feel heard, understood and empowered throughout their healthcare journey.
Outside the clinic, Leoni finds joy in the simple things—growing food, spending time in nature, riding her bike, practising yoga, dancing, cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. She believes that gratitude, movement, nourishing food and meaningful connection are some of life’s greatest medicines and strives to bring these values into both her personal life and her clinical practice.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Leoni at Kundalini House is a magician! I have been seeing her for Acupuncture for nearly two years after first seeking help for issues I experienced following COVID. She helped address those concerns and has since played a big role in helping me achieve stability across a number of areas of my health. The reception staff are also super lovely and helpful!”
