DEVI: Sundays with the Goddess Myth, symbolism, mantra, practice and meditation with Whitney Cummins

22 June 11.15am to 12.45

Each goddess — or Devī — is not something separate from us. She is a mirror for inner qualities that already exist within us: courage, clarity, nourishment, creative flow, radical freedom. Through storytelling and yogic practice, we meet these archetypes not as distant deities, but as living forces — doorways into the full spectrum of our own inner world.

Though she is called “the goddess,” Devī transcends gender, embodying a wide range of wisdom qualities that exist in all people. Her many forms reflect aspects of life we all navigate — from joy to struggle, from creativity to stillness. These teachings are not about transcending the world, but about engaging more fully with it — so we can meet our lives with greater clarity, resilience, and reverence.

We will explore the viewpoints of Tantra, bolstered by the embodied tools of Haṭha Yoga — including āsana, prāṇāyāma, mudrā, mantra, and meditation — to awaken the mind to what is already present within the body.

We gather not to become something new, but to remember that the goddess lives not only in the myth, but in the marrow.  And everytime we use the body as the tool for deeper experiences, we honor her multitude of expressions.

Open to all curious practitioners — no background in Tantric philosophy required. The teachings are offered in a grounded, accessible, and symbolic way.

Yoga teachers may opt to receive 8 Continuing Education hours through YACEP (includes a brief reflection component + access to recordings).
