About Billie

Billie Atherstone is an experienced trauma-informed practitioner, educator and co-founder of Kundalini House. For more than 20 years she has supported people to reconnect with their bodies, restore nervous system regulation and move towards lasting healing through compassionate, body-based care.

Since beginning clinical practice in 2003, Billie has developed an integrative approach that draws on Bowen Therapy, Kinesiology, Yoga Therapy and contemporary understandings of trauma, attachment and nervous system regulation. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, she works with the body’s innate capacity to heal, helping people gently unwind patterns of stress, trauma and protection that may have developed over many years.

Billie’s work is deeply informed by Polyvagal Theory, somatic psychology and trauma-responsive practice. She has extensive experience supporting people living with complex trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, persistent pain and nervous system dysregulation, creating a safe and collaborative space where clients can reconnect with themselves at a pace that feels supportive.

As an experienced educator, Billie has trained yoga teachers and health professionals both within Australia and internationally. She teaches Trauma Recovery Yoga and has contributed to practitioner education supporting trauma-informed care, including work with practitioners in Ukraine. She is also involved in research exploring the role of trauma-sensitive Kundalini Yoga in supporting recovery from post-traumatic stress, helping bridge traditional practices with contemporary evidence-based healthcare.

In 2006, Billie co-founded Kundalini House with her sister, Pip Atherstone-Reid, creating an integrated health and wellbeing clinic where practitioners work together to support the whole person—body, mind and nervous system.

Billie believes that healing happens through safety, connection and compassionate awareness. Her sessions are gentle, individualised and deeply collaborative, supporting each person to develop greater resilience, self-understanding and a renewed sense of ease within themselves.

★★★★★ Compassionate, Insightful & Deeply Effective Bodywork

“Billie is a highly skilled and intuitive Bowen and Kinesiology practitioner, and her many years of experience are immediately evident. In just two sessions, she helped me identify unconscious patterns that were influencing the way my body moved and where I was physically holding tension. Her practical suggestions have supported me to begin noticing and gently releasing these patterns.

Billie holds each session with genuine compassion, creating an experience that feels both nurturing and deeply supportive. I highly recommend her unique approach to bodywork. My body feels lighter, and I am moving with much greater freedom and ease. Thank you so much, Billie.”
