The Gayatri Mantra is the Mother of all scriptures (Vedas). She is present, wherever Her name is chanted. Awareness of her gifts a pureness of thoughts. She is the embodiment of all Goddesses. Our very breath is Gayatri, our faith in existence is Gayatri. Gayatri has nine descriptions, they are ‘Om, Bhur, Bhuvah, Suvaha, Tat, Savitur, Vareñyaṃ, Bhargo, Devasya’. The energy cultivated from reciting Gayatri nourishes and protects you and aligns you to your divine highest ‘Dhīmahi’ means meditation. We pray to her to inspire us to be wise of mind. ‘Dhīyo Yonah Prachodayāt’ – May she continue to bless us with all we need.
Om Namah Shivaya infuses positive and dissolves negative energy and releases stress. Om means the sound of creation. The sound that arose from the void, the sound of the universe. Namah Shivaya means basically salutations to the auspicious one. Om Namah Shivaya is a Panchaksara meaning that it has five syllables preceded by the Om the five syllables (Na-Ma-Shi-Va-Ya). Using alternative definitions the five syllables represent the five elements and are as follows: Na is earth, Ma is water, Shi is fire, Va is wind or air, Ya is space or sky.
