STILL HERE by Dave & the Dave’s

Promoting mental health through laughter and storytelling

With depression and suicide statistics at an all time high, with over 9 deaths per week in Australia, comes a new music theatre show that is full of honesty, joy and heart. A depression comedy, featuring the versatile acting skills of Dave Houston, who weaves multiple characters, elements of clown and stand-up comedy, live songs and vulnerable storytelling covering depression, suicide and recovery.

The show encompasses original songs over a range of genres from rock, to psyche folk, to punk, to a sweet lullaby, and gives a sideways wink to the world of theatre and unlike the Dr Suess poem, Too Many Dave’s this show has just the right amount of Dave’s including:

Uncle David, the professional actor and show biz master, who can now only tour Seagulls and other Gold Coast clubs

Rave Dave King of Hip Hop

Work for the dole stage manager Davo

Dfa (D for Dave) the theatre technician

Storyteller Dave who shares personal stories of drama school, depression, medication, love, loss and life.

‘You’ll struggle to find a more engaging theatrical solo performer at the Edinburgh Fringe than Dave Houston.’     Edinburgh Evening News – Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Dave Houston himself with a lived experience of mental health challenges has been acting and writing songs since he was 17. He took his first solo show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, has made 6 studio albums and created theatre works for schools and festivals, performing around the world. He is the Artistic Director of Full-On Theatre

Stand up comedian Gavin Ingham opens all Melbourne shows. He’s funny.

Heart Shaped Logic will deliver a tripped out sonic voyage through the chambers of the human heart. Heart Shaped Logic is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Samwise Seidel and pianist Charlie Bamford. Recidivist bandmates Samwise and Charlie have birthed this project to explore the therapeutic process of introspective songwriting, crafting objects with a fascination of timbre, harmony and the human condition.
