A Transformative Time: Eclipses in Pisces (Lunar) and Virgo (Solar) and Spring Equinox
It is a transformative time this September, it begins with Saturn moving back into Pisces, where it will remain until the 15th of February 2026, bringing renewed spiritual understanding and a grounded approach to completing things, prior to reentering Aries where it will reside until April 2028. Saturn, Neptune and Pluto are all still retrograde and are joined on the 7th of September by Uranus. Uranus retrograde gives us an opportunity to question what’s become too routine or rigid in our life, perhaps to somehow rewrite the script. These retrogrades are taking us through previous experiences, personas, actions and desires so we can reflect on any necessary changes before surging forward again. This is particularly important in this time of major planetary change. From mid-September to the beginning of November, Uranus and Pluto will be within one degree of an exact trine (which will become exact in 2026) bringing the potential for radical social, cultural, economic, and political transformation, achieved through radical change, evolutionary leaps or charismatic agents of change. Refreshingly, traditions, religion and the abuse of power may be challenged giving us the freedom to explore more possibilities and innovations.
Mercury moves into Virgo on the 2nd of September where there’s a need to discriminate amongst ideas and put them in logical sequence in order to learn. Mercury is moving fast now and will enter Libra on the 18th of September where there’s a need to be impartial and tactful in order to establish connections with others. The next day Venus moves into Virgo, where a need to serve and be useful yields emotional satisfaction. The final planetary move for the month is Mars into Scorpio on the 22nd of September, urging us to channel and transform emotional power in order to achieve our desires effectively.
We are entering eclipse season this month, with the Pisces Full Moon forming a total lunar eclipse and the Virgo New Moon forming a partial solar eclipse. Eclipses occur when the luminaries are close to the nodal axis at the time of the Full or New Moon, with the connection with the lunar nodes referencing our inherited collective karma. Since January this year, the North Node has been in Pisces (South Node Virgo) heralding some of the largest collective shifts towards unconditional love and spiritual understanding. The potential here is to come together in the oneness of human experience in a non-judgemental way with loving compassion, to lean into trust and learn to surrender to the natural flow of life.
The Pisces Full Moon exactly opposes the Virgo Sun at 4:08 am on the 8th of September. This lunar eclipse will be visible in Australia. The Full Moon is at 16 degrees, symbolised as: In the Quiet of their Study a Creative Individual Experiences a Flow of Inspiration and prompting reliance upon one’s inner source of inspiration or guidance. With the Moon in Pisces there’s a need for a sense of oneness with the world and the universe in order to feel secure and right about oneself. The individual must have faith in their subjective strength while recognising the vast collective mind of humankind. The Moon is forming a half-square to Pluto reinforcing the eclipsed full moon energy of transformational purging at this time in order to allow fresh growth and to lead us onto a higher spiritual path.
The New Moon, a solar eclipse, occurs at 5:54 am on the 22nd of September in the final degree of Virgo. This degree is symbolised as: Totally Intent upon Completing an Immediate Task, a Person is Deaf to any Allurement. This references the total concentration required for reaching any spiritual goal. With the Sun and Moon in the sign of Virgo, our security is linked to service and analysis and it’s a good time to plan to declutter your life and develop healthy habits and routines. Especially with the Moon and Sun aligned with the South Node and Neptune and Saturn opposing the luminaries, its a fertile time for sweeping away anything that’s no longer good enough for you.
The Sun moves into Libra on the 23rd of September where it radiates sociable, graceful, intellectual vitality. This is the Spring Equinox or time of equal day and night.
