A New World Order: 2026

2026 Astrology

By Gil Dwyer

Firstly to the lunar activity in January, The Cancer Full Moon occurs at 9:02 pm on the 3rd of January in the 14th degree symbolised as: A Very Old Man Facing a Vast Dark Space to the North East. This references fulfilment in transcending and changeless wisdom and permanence in truth beyond appearances. Uranus is forming a half-square with the Moon bringing a streak of originality and unpredictability and the Sun is enveloped by Mars and Venus, bringing a sense of artistic dynamism.  The Capricorn New Moon occurs at 6:52 am on the 19th of January at 29 degrees of that sign, symbolised as: A Woman Reading Tea Leaves. This references clairvoyance or the capacity to see in everything the signature of deeper realities. The New Moon is exactly sextile to Neptune suggesting great devotion to an ideal.

The momentous astrological changes we have been going through, particularly over the course of 2025 are accelerating in 2026 on many fronts and there’s potential for a real harmonious flow of energies, once abuses of power have been challenged and communities strengthened. Key events include the perfection of a number of transits between the outer planets some of which were previewed in 2025 when they came close to perfection.. This includes the merging of Saturn and Neptune, a T-square between Uranus and the nodes of the Moon, a Sextile between Uranus and Neptune, a Trine between Uranus and Pluto and a Sextile between Neptune and Pluto.

While Neptune first entered Aries in April 2025, it dipped back into Pisces, sign of creativity, compassion and spirituality, in late October 2025. Neptune will re-enter Aries on the 27th of January. Then, Saturn (planet of structure, limits and discipline), also reenters Aries on the 15th of February, where it’ll remain until April 2028, having done the same back and forth shuffle into Pisces since it first entered Aries in March 2025. Neptune and Saturn are coming together exactly on the 20th of February shortly after they re-enter Aries, where there’s an evolutionary lesson about using our skills and strength with humility. With Neptune in Aries until 2038 it will be important to lead with compassion. The first degree of Aries, the intersection of the equator and ecliptic, symbolises new beginnings, initiatives, and fresh energy. We are at a global crossroads, where new cycles begin, and the interaction of collective and individual energy shapes the direction of humanity. This is a point of action, manifestation, and profound shifts on the world stage. The last time these planets came together was in 1989 as we witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall. This is about the dissolving of structures and we can anticipate individuals making sacrifices for the group.

Uranus, the Great Awaken, reenters Gemini  in late April where it will remain until 2032 having spent four months completing its stint back in Taurus. When it re-enters chatty and restless,  Mercury-ruled, Gemini it’ll continue stirring things up there, and we can anticipate major breakthroughs in communications and thought processes. When Uranus is in Gemini there tends to be a focus on discovery, using new ways to communicate and bringing ingenious ideas to life. This may include developing new ideas about how to live. What is really important to us may change and new approaches to collaboration and our approach to groups may emerge and we can anticipate a period of major innovation in all forms of communication.  This is a time to fight back against those who try to suppress the news, or distort the facts,. This will be a time to make your most r/evolutionary ideas go viral.

Chiron, the wounded healer,  enters Taurus on the 20th of June where it will remain until mid-September. Chiron shows us where we are wounded, but also how we can learn from our wounds. While facing our demons and processing our hurt feelings can be uncomfortable, we gain valuable wisdom in the process. When Chiron is in the fixed earth sign, we can expect to work through problems related to stability, money, food, art, reproductive rights, or the natural world. When Chiron  retrogrades back into Aries in mid-September there will be a final opportunity to face any barriers to fighting for what you believe in.

‍Then Jupiter, planet of the higher mind, growth and expansion, moves from caring and sensitive Cancer  into Leo on the 30th of June where it will remain until late July 2027. With the planet of abundance and wisdom in Leo we are in the territory of bolder, more dramatic self-expression encouraging generosity but not precluding issues around attention-seeking. The Lion is known for doing things on a grand scale, and this provides a once-in-12-year opportunity to heal any fears or insecurities that keep you from shining on life’s stage.

The transit of the lunar nodes, points where the moon’s orbit crosses the ecliptic, speaks to our inherited collective karma. We are being challenged to learn the new lessons of the futuristic North Node while releasing the past  through the South Node. Achieving a balance between these two opposing lunar energies is one of the critical jobs our souls face. Since January 2025 the North Node has been in Pisces (and the South Node in Virgo) heralding some of the largest collective shifts towards unconditional love and spiritual understanding., The lunar nodes move into visionary Aquarius (North node) and expressive Leo in late July 2026, where they will remain until March 2028.  This may be associated with a new paradigm of how we communicate, with a wealth of creativity focused towards how we outgrow egoistic ways in favour of working for the collective good.

With eclipses occurring close to the lunar nodes this year’s eclipses include:

  • Annular Solar eclipse near the North Node in Aquarius: 17th February, 2026
  • Total Lunar eclipse near the South Node in Virgo: 3rd March, 2026
  • Total Solar eclipse near the South Node in Leo: 13th August, 2026
  • Partial Lunar eclipse near the North Node in Pisces: 28th August, 2026

Eclipses spark shake-ups, surprises, and plot twists.

You may remember the Pluto-Uranus square of 2012-15 which brought a dynamic tension between radical change (Uranus in Aries) and deep-seated societal restructuring (Pluto in Capricorn). It fuelled intense upheaval, technological shifts, and demands for freedom from the 2010s. It echoed the revolutionary 1960s although  boosted by digital connectivity and social media. From 2026-2028 Uranus will Trine Pluto five times. In July and November 2026 the powerful energies of Uranus and Pluto form a harmonious Trine, coming together in what may represent a reconciliation and we may see a change in many conflicts in the world, where grievances are addressed and understanding leads to a remarkable transformation. Expect innovative breakthroughs and systemic transformation. as Uranus in Gemini harmonises with Pluto in Aquarius, fostering integration, new technologies, and societal evolution from the revolutionary seeds planted in the 1960s. This uplifting aspect is sure to bring lasting change, blending Gemini’s focus on communication and technology with Aquarius’s collective ideals, leading to progress in governance, media, and collective movements.

While there is much more that will transpire in 2026 it will be a great year for spiritual practice and staying present in the moment. Go well!
