An Evolutionary Jump: Virgo Total Lunar Eclipse and Pisces New Moon
March Astrology Blog by Gil Dwyer
March is a bridging month full of endings and beginnings with a concentration of planets in Pisces and Aries. Retrograde Jupiter in Cancer will turn direct on the 12th of March bringing a forward motion and confidence back to issues of family, home and one’s emotional security. With Mercury stationing to go direct in Pisces on the 20th of March the information we may have gleaned from reviewing past projects and refining or tweaking them and now can implement inventive ideas to bring them forward. For the remainder of March all the planets are travelling direct, and the Autumn Equinox marks the beginning of the astrological new year. As March begins we are still very much feeling the effects of the merging of Saturn (builder) Neptune (dream) at the first degree of Aries. This coincided with the tariffs being struck down by the US Supreme Court and Andrew Mountbatten being arrested. With Neptune in Aries until 2038 it will be important to blend spiritual idealism (Neptune) with pioneering action (Aries). It is worth reminding ourselves that we are at a historic global crossroads, with this conjunction occurring for the first time in recorded history at the world axis point.
The Virgo Full Moon exactly opposes the Pisces Sun at 10:38 pm on the 3rd of March. This is a total eclipse that will be visible in Melbourne, provided it isn’t obscured by clouds. At 13 degrees it is symbolised as: A Powerful Statesman Over-comes a State of Political Hysteria. We are at the stage where a powerful realisation of the very purpose of the cycle of existence faces the chaotic remains of a dis-structured past. It suggests the focusing of the collective need for order and structural interdependence into a Personage who incarnates the answer to this need. The Virgo Full Moon is a time when one’s safety is associated with order and clarity and there’s a need to deal with chaos and get more order in one’s life. We are learning to trust life and being challenged to accept imperfections. There are five planets in water, including four in Pisces at this time Especially with this Full Moon eclipse being close to the South Node this is an excellent time and we will receive cosmic assistance to purge health challenging habits, extraneous responsibilities and unrealistic fantasies, in order to allow fresh growth.

The New Moon occurs at 12:23 pm on the 19th of March at 29 degrees of Pisces. This degree is symbolised as: A Light Breaking into Many Colours Through a Prism. It describes the analytical power of the mind necessary for the formulation of life processes in their many aspects. It reminds us that existence implies differentiation. With the Sun and Moon in the sensitive and compassionate sign of Pisces at this time, vitality and self expression are coloured by yearnings, overwhelming vulnerability and the state of the inner life. The Moon here is reminding us that periods of unfocused, free, imaginative daydreaming help bring emotional tranquillity. Uranus is forming a harmonious sextile to the Sun and the Moon bringing inspiration, originality and inventiveness into the dynamic of this New Moon.
The Sun moves into Aries on the 21st of March where forceful assertion of individuality is necessary for full self-expression. This marks the Autumn Equinox and the Astrological New Year.
Saturn forms a sextile with Pluto on the 29th of March bringing potential for constructive change and its a great time to develop one’s self-discipline and cutting out bad habits.
