Cycles of Power: Retrogrades, Revelations & Renewal – October Astrology Blog

Aries Full Super Moon and Libran New Moon and Neptune dips back into Pisces
Written by Gil Dwyer

In this astrology blog we begin the month with Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto still retrograde taking us through previous experiences, personas, actions and desires so we can reflect on any necessary changes before surging forward again. This is particularly important in this time of major planetary change.  Mercury moves into passionate and intense Scorpio on the 7th of October where the urge for verbal expression comes from the depths of one’s being and there’s a profound need to learn by penetrating and probing to the core of reality. Then, on the 14th of October, Venus moves into Libra, where give and take with others is coloured by balance, fairness and gentleness.

The Aries Full Super Moon exactly opposes the Libra Sun at 2:47 pm on the 7th of October. The Full Moon is at 15 degrees, symbolised as; An Indian Weaving a Ceremonial Blanket and is descriptive of projecting into everyday living the realisation of wholeness and the fulfilment of spiritual desire. Full Moons are a time to decide what, and how much of something, needs to be purged from our lives. Extraneous responsibilities and unrealistic fantasies will tend to be expunged in order to allow fresh growth. The Aries Full Moon reminds us of the need to balance honouring our own needs with attending to the needs of significant others. While Libra wants harmony and compromise, Aries demands independence, sovereignty and authentic action, possibly leading to a crucial turning point in relationships with self and others.  New revelations regarding our physical bodies, leadership skills and our ability to initiate new enterprises and close partnerships may happen at this time.  With Mercury square to Pluto we can expect lots of secrets to come to light and Uranus adds an element of the unexpected.

Pluto stations to go direct on the 14th of October bringing intensity and leading into a period where we may be able to access the power and determination to make deep changes in our lives.  From last month until the beginning of November, Uranus and Pluto will be within one degree of a helpful and exact trine (which will become exact in 2026) bringing the potential for radical social, cultural, economic, and political transformation, achieved through radical change, evolutionary leaps or charismatic agents of change.  Refreshingly, traditions, religion and the abuse of power may be challenged giving us the freedom to explore more possibilities and innovations.

The New Moon, occurs at 11:24 pm on the 21st of October at 29 degrees of Libra. This degree is symbolised as: Humankind’s Vast and Enduring Effort to Reach for Knowledge Transferable from Generation to Generation. This references conscious participation and commitment to social processes which seek to bring truth and a greater life to all people. It’s time for new beginnings. taking charge of our relationships and giving them their due attention, as well as working on our negotiation and partnering skills. The resolution of conflicts is in focus… Because this lunation is square to Jupiter and Pluto, we are reminded that over-ambition and excess won’t help us achieve our goals any sooner.

Saturn retrograded back into Pisces in September, where it will remain until the 15th of February 2026 bringing renewed spiritual understanding and a grounded approach to completing things. and this month Retrograde Neptune will move back into Pisces on the 22nd of October where it will remain in the very final degrees of the zodiac before reentering  Aries in January 2026 , and remaining in that sign for twelve years. This final degree of the zodiac is symbolised as: A Majestic Rock Formation Resembling a Face is Idealised by a Child who takes it as their Ideal of Greatness and as they grow up they begin to look like it. This recognises the power of clearly visualised ideals to mould the life of the visualiser. The seed of a new beginning exists in potency within the end of the cycle.   The Sun moves into Scorpio on the 23rd of October suggesting the need to embrace our dark side and express  transformative energy. Passion and intensity is often directed to transforming the status quo here.  The same day Jupiter forms the first of three squares with Chiron  This contributes to a yearning for meaning and understanding in one’s life.
