Powerful New Beginnings: Libran Full Moon and Aries New Moon

April 2026 is a high energy and intense month with a huge concentration of planetary energy in Aries and Pisces bringing quick decisions, sudden, transformative shifts and karmic resets. Pisces conclusions and Aries new beginnings abound. This might include breakthroughs in relation to career and relationships.  It is also worth reminding ourselves of the momentous astrological changes accelerating since 2025 on many fronts with potential for a real harmonious flow of energies, once abuses of power have been challenged and communities strengthened.

April is also a month when all the planets are travelling in direct motion, reinforcing the Astrological New Year which occurred at the recent Autumn Equinox. The Sun, Saturn, Neptune and Chiron are all in Aries at the beginning of the month while the month concludes with them joined by Mercury and Mars in Aries while the Sun will have moved into Taurus.

The Libran Full Moon exactly opposes the Aries Sun at 1:12 pm on the 2^nd of April after opposing the buildup of planets in Aries and making for an intense time where emotions may be high.   At 13 degrees it is symbolised as: Children Blowing Soap Bubbles and speaks to the cultural fantasies through which young minds dream of perfect fulfilment. It appears to refer to the use of the imagination and the value of fantasy in a collective setup. The Libran Full Moon is a time when one tends to react to the environment and all experiences, with objectivity and a strongly developed sense of fairness. Nevertheless, there’s an intense Plutonian tinge to this Full Moon as the Moon and Pluto are forming a square which becomes exact two days later.

Mars goes into its natural home in Aries on the 10^th of April where initiative, willpower and restlessness characterise the method of operation, as well as encouraging an intuitive grasp of essentials. Mars meets up with Uranus (13^th April) and sextiles Pluto (17^th April). Mercury reenters Aries on the 15^th of April where a restless urge for action underlies an energetic way of speaking and creative use of skills.

The New Moon occurs at 9:51 pm on the 17th of April at 28 degrees of Aries. This degree is symbolised as: A Large Audience Confronts the Performer who Disappointed its Expectations. It describes the necessity for mature preparation and self-control and taking responsibility in handling a situation with people who have been made to expect significant results. So many planetary bodies in Aries at this Full Moon makes this is a fiery time with much proactive cardinal energy. The Sun and Moon are merging with Chiron at this New Moon suggestive of a powerful, vulnerable, and deeply healing turning point centered on healing, self-assertion, and the courage to exist authentically.

The Sun moves into Taurus on the 20^th  of April where vitality is rooted in earthy, physical sensations and there is a need to be recognised for one’s reliability and ability to produce. Meanwhile Venus merges with Uranus in the final degree of Pisces on the 24^th of April suggestive of a powerful, often sudden, turning point in love, finances, and creativity that merges spiritual compassion with sudden liberation. Venus moves into Gemini on the same day, where there’s a need to talk immediately about one’s thoughts and perceptions in order to feel close to others.

The most profound astrological event of April occurs when Uranus, the Great Awaken, reenters Gemini on the 26^th of April where it will remain until 2032, having spent four months completing its final stint back in Taurus. When it re-enters chatty and restless, Mercury-ruled, Gemini it’ll continue stirring things up there, and we can anticipate major breakthroughs in communications and thought processes. When Uranus is in Gemini there tends to be a focus on discovery, using new ways to communicate and bringing ingenious ideas to life. This may include developing new ideas about how to live.
