July 2026 is one of the most significant months astrologically this century. Featuring the Cancer New Moon, Aquarius Full Moon, Mercury Retrograde, Jupiter’s journey through Leo, and an exceptionally rare alignment between Jupiter, Pluto, Neptune and Uranus, this month’s astrology invites both personal reflection and collective transformation.

The Most Beautiful Configuration of the 21st Century in July 2026

With Jupiter having started its one year residency in Leo at the very end of June we are being called back to the heart. The challenge here is to be brave and honest to yourself while avoiding turning life into a performance. Mercury, which is retrograde in Cancer until the 24th of July is promoting deep emotional reflection and family re-connections, although be aware of any tendency to miscommunicate.

Cancer New Moon | 14 July 2026

The Cancer New Moon becomes exact at 7:44 pm on the 14th of July. At 22 degrees it is symbolised as: A Young Woman Awaiting a Sailboat and speaks to the longing for transcendent happiness in the soul opened to great dreams. The Moon is at home in Cancer, ensuring an emphasis on sensitivity, nurturing and natural rhythms. Mercury is merging with the Moon stimulating fervently held opinions associated with this mind emotion interaction.

The Most Beautiful Planetary Configuration of the 21st Century

This special month heralds a rare and extraordinary planetary alignment that directly involves not two or three but four outer planets – Pluto, Neptune, Uranus and Jupiter. As the outer planets move slowly with powerful impacts on the world, this configuration will change the world in ways that we can only imagine.

Sunday, the 19th of July is a particular climax. At this time Jupiter in the fifth degree of Leo opposes Pluto in the fifth degree of Aquarius, while the Moon, for a brief time only, at the 5th degree of Libra opposes Neptune in the 5th degree of Aries. Simultaneously Jupiter in the 5th degree of Leo is forming a trine with Neptune with Uranus exactly sextileing both planets.

This was referred to by the late mundane astrologer Andre Barbault as the most beautiful configuration of the twenty-first century. While the Moon is only a bit player the rest of the planets stay roughly in this rare alignment for some time.

This largely benefic dance between the outer planets is suggestive of massive change for the world.

The first of four exact trines between Uranus and Pluto occurs on the 18th of July, bringing humanity into a new level of consciousness and enabling us to explore our personal psychology more objectively.

The very next day Jupiter in Leo, symbolising the confident desire for boundless expansion, forms an exact opposition to Pluto in Aquarius representing the need for profound transformation for the collective good.

In addition in this instance Neptune forms a sextile to Uranus on the 25th of July promoting flashes of insight and both personal and collective awakening.

Finally Neptune simultaneously forms a sextile to Pluto on the 26th of July encouraging a pioneering spirit and an interest in truth and transcending binary thinking.

Sun Enters Leo

The Sun moves into Leo on the 23rd of July where creative energy is coloured by a sense of drama and bigness.

The Lunar Nodes Move into Aquarius and Leo

The transit of the lunar nodes, points where the moon’s orbit crosses the ecliptic, speaks to our inherited collective karma. We are being challenged to learn the new lessons of the futuristic North Node while releasing the past through the South Node. Achieving a balance between these two opposing lunar energies is one of the critical jobs our souls face.

Since January 2025 the North Node has been in Pisces (and the South Node in Virgo) heralding large collective shifts towards unconditional love and spiritual understanding.

The lunar nodes move into visionary Aquarius (North Node) and expressive Leo (South Node) on the 26th of July 2026, where they will remain until March 2028. This may be associated with a new paradigm of how we communicate, with a wealth of creativity focused towards how we outgrow egoistic ways in favour of working for the collective good.

Aquarius Full Moon | 30 July 2026

The Aquarius Full Moon opposes the Leo Sun at 12:36 am on the 30th of July.

At 7 degrees of Aquarius it is symbolised as: A Child is Seen Being Born out of an Egg and speaks to the emergence of new mutations according to the great rhythms of the cosmos. It can be said to announce the emergence of the global human for the New Age.

Full Moons are a time to decide what, and how much of something, needs to be purged from our lives in order to allow fresh growth.

With the Moon in Aquarius security is associated with being able to exercise complete freedom of ideas, self expression and innovation.
