A Powerful Virgo Full Moon leading in to a Courageous New Astrological Year
Travelling closely together for an unusually long time Mars, and then Venus joined up with Pluto a few days before they both entered Aquarius and merged together shortly afterwards at the first degree of Aquarius, the exact degree of the Jupiter-Saturn Great Conjunction on December 22 2021. This earlier event began a new cycle of the social planets in air, after their 200 year acquisitive journey through earth providing a major signification that we have entered the Age of Aquarius. We are reminded of this once more with Venus and Mars meeting up to start a new cycle at this sensitive degree. Then Venus and Mars start to separate on the 14th of March.
Meanwhile Russia invaded Ukraine as the planet of war, Mars, hit the Capricorn degree of the Great Saturn-Pluto merger that marked the start of the pandemic. Pluto remains in Capricorn until its tentative dip into Aquarius from March 2023 to mid June 2023 and its final farewell to Capricorn by January 2024. This is really important as the focus will shift from power to the autocrats and plutocrats to power to the people with Pluto in Aquarius.
Mercury moves fast in March, completing its journey through Pisces between the 9th and the 26th of March, perhaps leaving us to reflect on just where that time went.
The Virgo Full Moon occurs at 5:18 pm on the 18th of March at 28 degrees of Virgo which is described as A Bald-headed Man who has Seized Power. Especially following on from the recent Pisces New Moon on the third of March, with its reference to the sword in the museum, the Russia-Ukraine equivalences are quite literal. This speaks to a situation where male power is dominant and is a reminder that absolute power corrupts absolutely. There comes a time when obsolescent patterns of order and cultural refinement have to be radically and relentlessly challenged. It suggests the need for decision and transformation and that everything bows to the power of the will be this divine, human or even Satanic.
Pluto and the North Node feature at this Full Moon forming a harmonious grand earth trine with the Moon underlining the power and passion of this event. With this potent interaction at the Full Moon we can be confident that dramatic and evolutionary change is on the agenda with deep secrets also involved.
With Neptune meeting up with the Sun we get a little preview of the dreamy sense of the compassion and sensitivity, not to mention spiritual awareness, that will characterise the rare meeting of Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces which becomes exact on the 13th of April. Reminding us of the sheer magic of celestial timing, watery Pisces brings out the best of humanity, evident in current outpourings of kindness and compassion for the pain and suffering of the human condition, as we struggle to evolve beyond the inevitable fear and insecurity of these ‘unprecedented’ times and away from separation towards love.
A few days after the Virgo Full Moon in the early hours of the 21st of March the Sun enters Aries, highlighting courage and bravery and marking the beginning of the Astrological New Year at the autumn equinox. Mercury and Jupiter are united at this point bringing a sense of optimism and a common faith in the future, but also reflective of the many people around the globe that are displaced and on the move. This is further energized by a square between Mars and Uranus a couple of day later with freedom and rebellion highlighted. As the old saying goes, it’s always darkest before the dawn!
