Scorpio and Sagittarius Full Moons and Taurus New Moon
Astrology Blog by Gil Dwyer
Every now and then we have a month which begins and ends with a Full Moon and this is called a Blue Moon. The Scorpio Full Moon occurs on the 2nd of May, with a second Sagittarian Full Moon ending the month. Uranus went into Gemini the 26th of April, where it will remain until 2032, and in so doing joined up with Sedna, a distant dwarf planet and Inuit Goddess. This rare alignment ignites lightning-fast disclosures and reveals hidden human histories, maternal narratives and galactic perspectives.
The Scorpio Full Moon exactly opposes the Taurus Sun at 3:23 am on the 2nd of May At 12 degrees it is symbolised as: A Brilliant Assembly of Dignitaries at an Official Embassy Ball. It is contextualised as an essential feature in the development of rhythmic give-and-take in order to achieve global peace. Full Moons are a time to decide what, and how much of something, needs to be purged from our lives. The Scorpio Full Moon is a time when one feels nurtured when giving and/or receiving intense emotional energy. Indeed, this is a particularly emotionally intense Full Moon, with Scorpio’s ruler Pluto forming a square to the Moon and Sun illuminating hidden fears and attachments and forcing an evolution towards a more empowered state. At the same time a Venus sextile to Saturn brings an equilibrium between structure and balance in relationships helping long term goals.
Mercury goes into Taurus on the 4th of May where an attentive steady mind brings ideas down to earth and then Gemini on the 18th of May. where there’s an urge to express perceptions immediately and a need to learn through establishing and identifying connections amongst people and ideas.
Pluto stations to turn retrograde on the 7th of May prompting a reflection on issues of power and control and building an appetite for purging deeply rooted trauma or habits in areas where we have allowed others to control us. Pluto will not return to direct motion until mid-October.
The New Moon occurs at 6:01 am on the 17th of May at 26 degrees of Taurus. This degree is symbolised as: A Spanish Gallant Serenades his Beloved and it refers to the ritualisation of individual desires. It reveals role playing as the individual human being makes use of his or her personal status to find fulfilment and a sense of social identity. With the Sun and Moon in Taurus it is a time when one feels secure in unchanging, predictable situations and comfortable with, and more aware of, all sensual stimulation. If transformation or change has been brewing in our lives, we may feel more settled now or be able to see the new road ahead. Chiron and Mars merge exactly in Aries at this New Moon encouraging a powerful, long-term journey of healing through action, grounding, and self-worth.
Mars goes into Taurus on the 19th of May where one asserts self steadily, retentively, conservatively and stubbornly. Venus goes into Cancer a few hours later. where there’s a need to nurture and be nurtured to feel part of a family in order to be comfortable,
The Sun moves into Gemini on the 21st of April where creative energy is directed towards perception, acquiring facts, asking questions and finding connections between ideas, kick-starting the most sociable astrological season of the year
The month ends with the Sagittarius Full Moon at 6:45pm in 10 degrees on the 31st of May. The Sagittarian Full Moon spotlights freedom and expansion exploration, faith and optimism, while helping to focus our attention on long-term goals and higher principles. There is emotional intensity in the air and perhaps some truth telling about intimacy and personal boundaries. This is an inspiring and buoyant ending to the month that brings stability and strategy through its link with Saturn.
