This eventful year commences with Mars retrograde in Leo until the 24th of February, continuing a time of doubt and encouraging a change of direction. This is an opportunity for inner growth rather than outward displays of power. Use this transit to refine your goals and re-energise your spirit.

The Cancer Full Moon occurs at 9:27am on the 14th of January at 24 degrees. This degree is characterised as: A Woman and Two Men Castaways on an Small Island of the South Seas. It describes the localisation of complex inner potentialities in harmonic and concrete relationships. The Moon in Cancer has a natural sense of timing and feels secure when nurturing and being nurtured by others. Uranus forms harmonious relationships with the Moon and Sun at this Full Moon suggesting that one’s reactions may be tinged with a streak of originality and unpredictability at this time. .

The Aquarius New Moon occurs at 11:36 pm on the 29th of January at 10 degrees of that sign, symbolised as:

A Person who had for a Time become the Embodiment of a Popular Ideal is Made to Realise that as a Person they are not this Ideal. The reference is to the need to deal with human beings as persons rather than as screens upon which one projects one’s dreams and ideals. This can mean a critical need for self-re-evaluation.  Under a Aquarius New Moon one tends to reacts unpredictably, eccentrically and with detached objectivity and feel secure when exercising complete freedom of ideas and self-expression. With Jupiter forming a tight trine to the Moon there is great sensitivity towards connection with a larger order at this New Moon.

2025 (along with 2026) is a year of tremendous change with a major elemental shift from earth and water, to fire and air.  Not only is Pluto finally in Aquarius after a consequential 16 years in Capricorn, but Neptune moves into Aries after 14 years in Pisces, Saturn moves into Aries after over two years in Pisces and Uranus moves into Gemini after six years in TaurusNot only are Neptune and Saturn soon to cross the Aries Point (the first degree of the zodiac) associated with great significance and action, but so will the North Node on its journey backwards into Pisces. Additionally Uranus and Pluto will be forming a helpful trine which while not exact until 2026 is within one degree of orb from mid-September to the beginning of November.

Saturn and Neptune will also be dancing closely together in both direct and retrograde motion in the middle of the year.

The transit of the lunar nodes, points where the moon’s orbit crosses the ecliptic, speaks to our inherited collective karma. We are being challenged to learn the new lessons of the futuristic North Node while releasing the resisting energy of the past through the South Node. Achieving a balance between these two opposing lunar energies is one of the critical jobs our souls face. Since July 2023 the North Node has been in Aries, bringing a whole new collective karma narrative with a re-balancing focus on finding the inspiration and courage to support our own goals, entrepreneurial skills and personal power. In January, for the first time since 2006, the North Node will enter Pisces (and the South Node will enter Virgo) heralding some of the largest collective shifts towards unconditional love and spiritual understanding. The potential here is to come together in the oneness of human experience in a non-judgmental way with loving compassion, to lean into trust and learn to surrender to the natural flow of life. There will be a strong emphasis here on emotional healing and health will become prominent in the Zeitgeist. The challenge will be to avoid perfectionism, manipulation and spiritual bypass.

Neptune itself has been in its home sign of Pisces since 2011, where its influence has been particularly powerful, reminding us that nothing is very permanent. and helping us to find compassion and to understand our connection to all things. It will move into Aries on the 30th of March where there’s an evolutionary lesson to use our skills and strength with humility. Saturn also moves out of Pisces into Aries on the 25th of May for the first time in 29 years and will remain there until April 2028. In the Saturnian desire for practical achievement we will be learning  to establish and preserve self through effort and  there is an urge for tangible achievement through aggressive, competitive actions. Acting independently is especially important and necessary for satisfying achievement.

Then Jupiter, planet of the higher mind, growth and expansion moves into cardinal Cancer on the 10th of June, where it will remain until the 1st of July 2026. With Jupiter in Cancer there is a need for sensitivity to others’ feelings in order to have confidence in oneself. Here opportunities come through one’s expression of protective empathy and instinctive nurturing. While passing through the sign of its exaltation, Jupiter can summon the faith that moves mountains. In general, high levels of intuitive guidance will be present to assist those who meditate and to aid others who earnestly seek out guidance from higher planes.   Wisdom comes from the gut and opportunities are felt instinctively. The general tenor of this period reminds us to listen inwardly, instead of seeking external teachers. When this expansive energy combines with empathetic Cancer, we’ll be given an opportunity for growth through our emotional awareness. Jupiter begins and ends 2025 in retrograde.

Uranus moves into air sign Gemini, on the 8th of July where we can anticipate major breakthroughs in thought processes. When Uranus is in Gemini there tends to be a focus on discovery and on using new ways to communicate and bringing ingenious ideas to life. We may first experience this transit with a sense of restlessness. We can anticipate new ideas about how to live. What is really important to us may change and new approaches to collaboration and our approach to groups may emerge.

Mercury retrogrades in 2025 occur mainly in fire signs (in Aries (and Pisces) 15th  of  March to the 7th of April, in Leo 18th of July to the 11th of August and in Sagittarius (and Scorpio) from the 9th – 29th of November. This see us reviewing creativity, ideas and ambitions.

Finally, eclipses are powerful cosmic events known to bring about significant change. The four eclipses of 2025 include a Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo (24°) on the 14th of March, a Partial Solar Eclipse in Aries (10°)on the 29th of March, a Total Lunar Eclipse in Pisces (16°)on the 7th of September and  a Partial Solar Eclipse in Virgo (30°)on the 21st of September.

In Chinese Astrology 2025 is the Year of the Wood Snake, emphasising growth, creativity and flexibility.

May you go well in 2025! ——-
