When we’re full of uncertainty about our health or aging parents, layoffs, paying rent or the mortgage, or like in our current situation where even the grocery shopping can feel traumatic, life can feel threatening. No one knows exactly what the next week holds – or the next day for that matter.

This crisis challenges our identity and interrupts our identification with the outside world. When we’re stressed, and hooked by fears we get caught in our demon dialogue patterns. During these times our negative patterns are most likely to arise. This increases stress levels for us and challenges our relationships. We are all wired for connection, so any disconnection triggers our distress system. Bonding is the antidote to loneliness. As humans we don’t do well in isolation.

Online support can provide a really beneficial boost during this crisis to establish or deepen the safe harbour of your relationships. Relational distress can create the deepest wounds during this lockdown.  I can support you with your relationships, stress management and ways to cultivate more balance, to recover your inner stillness and calm.

How Can Couples Counselling Help?

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, or EFT, for couples. It’s an evidence based approach developed by Dr. Sue Johnson in the early 1980s. EFT is a well-known humanistic approach to psychotherapy and developed in tandem with the science of adult attachment, a profound developmental theory of personality and intimate relationships.

This approach works on what happens between you and your partner in your day-to-day interactions with each other. EFT is supported by extensive research demonstrating that most couples undertaking a course of EFT counselling report a 90% improvement in their relationship. In our relationships we ask ourselves questions like: “Where are you?” “Can I find you?” “Can I depend on you?”  “Will you be there for me?” Once couples are stronger together they change and the world changes with them –  for many couples unsolvable problems can be faced and resolved. Of course if relationships are not safe, it’s important you contact a domestic violence specialist support service like 1800 RESPECT.

I will show you ways to skillfully resolve relationship conflict by providing you with ways to interrupt negative patterns and then move towards more healthy and secure loving bonds. Together we can build your safe haven, and build a secure bridge to find the way back to each other.

Contact me to discuss how a RELATIONSHIP FIRST AID TOOLKIT can get you started in just four sessions.

There are also packages available for individual psychotherapy and hypnosis.

Is Telehealth as good as Face to Face Counselling?

Individuals and Couples report feeling more comfortable seeing therapeutic advisor in their own home. Telehealth is a bonus as our homes can become the therapeutic space for change which is where change really needs to happen.

Together we will create a safe space which allows you to explore and discover you own insights. There is no need to face this time on your own.

I am operating online offering flexible hours and fees, contact me to discuss further
