Open Your Heart and Let your Light Shine: A Dramatic Leo Full Moon

Shortly after the Sun moves into eccentric, humanitarian and freedom loving Aquarius on the 20th of January the Aquarius ruler, Uranus, meets up with Mars. This brings an innovative edge and an air of excitement both at home and to an already energized US presidential inauguration. This can be a time of creative breakthroughs fueled by the necessity for innovation. It can also be a highly chaotic period in the collective, where revolution knows no bounds.

An especially dramatic Leo Full Moon occurs at 5:16 am on the 29th of January, just an hour before moonset and sunrise. Poetically this occurs at the 10th degree of Leo characterised as Early Morning Dew Sparkles as Sunlight Floods the Field. If weather permits it may be particularly entrancing opportunity to watch the Full Moon set at 6:18 am that morning. This degree of Leo speaks to the exalted feeling of individuals who have successfully passed through a long night of the soul which has tested their strength and faith. The old saying that The Darkest Hour is Just before Dawn is pertinent to this time. While there are undoubtedly many more challenges to face, we may now have more insight into the changes and shifts in attitude that can be usefully made. We are assured of a particularly dynamic energy, with lots of squares between planets at the full Moon, especially with Uranus in close proximity to Mars squaring both the Moon and the opposing Sun with its entourage.

Indeed with the Sun merging energies with Jupiter at this Full Moon, which in turn is still relatively close to Saturn, we are reminded of the current influence of the Great Mutation of late December 2020. This Jupiter-Saturn conjunction marks a new 200 year cycle and a shift from earth to air enabling, over time, a new paradigm for humanity to unfold. This will take us beyond the current material focus, as we move into the Aquarian Age, with more attention directed to culture, progress, and global emancipation. With Jupiter lending its expansive energy to the Sun our hopes are high, while Mercury, also in Aquarius, is bringing our dreams for the future to life and drawing in collective group energy. The need to be recognised interacts with the urge to be become bigger than oneself at this time. With Venus and Pluto also sharing space at the Full Moon we will not be content with keeping things superficial and may be contemplating what has changed both in our relationship with self and in how we relate with the world, with a particularly focus on our values and any financial issues. Don’t give you power away and stay in your heart at this Full Moon.

The month concludes with Mercury stationing retrograde in Aquarius, prompting a review of ideas, friendships and networks.
