Bring on the Future: Aquarius New Moon and Virgo Full Moon

All the planets are currently moving in a forward direction, and will do so until April, propelling us rapidly into the future in this year of major change. The Sun is already in future oriented Aquarius. With Pluto in the first degree of Aquarius for most of February, Mercury first met up with Pluto when it entered Aquarius on the 5th of February and this same union will occur with Mars’s entry into Aquarius on the 13th of February, followed by Venus four days later. This highlights deep transformation, or a veritable metamorphosis, as these planets variously merge with Pluto, Lord of the Underworld and we move rapidly into the future. Apart from one last gasp to complete the task when it re-enters Capricorn (2nd Sept – 20th Nov) Pluto will be in Aquarius for the next 20 years promising over time an increased focus on global cooperation based on justice and mutual understanding.

The Aquarius New Moon occurs at 8:59 am on the 10th of February at 21 degrees and is symbolised as: A Disappointed and Disillusioned Woman Courageously Faces a Seemingly Empty Life. This speaks to our capacity to meet emotionally upsetting experiences in human relationships with strength of character and personal integrity. It urges us to develop resilience under adversity. The Aquarian theme associated with Pluto’s recent entry is further strengthened at the New Moon with Moon and Sun forming a tight square to Uranus which is the planet associated with Aquarius, bringing in a need for unrestrained self-expression in this time of unpredictability and originality with perhaps a release from recent tension. Saturn and Jupiter are also providing productive and balanced assistance. Simultaneously, the Aquarian New Moon ushers in the Chinese Year of the Wood Dragon. This combination is expected to bring about growth, progress, and abundance. It’s seen as an ideal period for fresh starts and laying down the groundwork for lasting success.

The Sun then enters Pisces on the 19th of February radiating a healing, compassionate spirit to all that suffer and is followed by Mercury four days later highlighting the poetic imagination.

The Full Moon occurs at 10:31 pm on the 24th of February at 6 degrees of Virgo and is symbolised as A Merry-Go-Round. This reminds us of the first experience of the dynamic intensity of life processes and of the possibility of using them to reach characteristic ego-satisfaction. It implies that any cyclic release of life energy provides us with the opportunity of demonstrating some type of skill and mastery. The Virgo Full Moon is a time when one’s safety is associated with order and clarity and there’s a need to deal with chaos. We are learning to trust life and challenged to accept imperfections. Mercury and Saturn sit on either side of the Pisces Sun at this Full Moon bringing in a sense of transcendence at this opposition.

Finally on the 28th of February Mercury, the Sun and Saturn all unite in a rare three way conjunction bringing a sense of reckoning and we should move into March with a fresh perspective as we hurtle into the future.
