The Vision Widens at the Sagittarius New Moon and Gemini Full Moon

Having dominated the zeitgeist in 2021 and to a lesser extent in 2022, the Saturn/Uranus square is finally fading. It played a key role in the total lunar eclipse, which coincided exactly with the US midterm elections. At this eclipse Uranus was less than a degree away from the Moon while forming a looser square to Saturn. The astrological advice was to anticipate the unexpected with the possibility for sudden breakthroughs and life-changing events. Progressive forces dominated at this key time and we may all feel relief and the desire for a bit of a breather after such a powerful Taurus lunar eclipse.

Right at the end of October Mars commenced its 74 day retrograde journey exclusively through Gemini─ for the first time in thirty years─ with Mars subsequently remaining in Gemini until late March 2023. Its role is to help us to be more introspective in our curiosity and to deconstruct ideas and beliefs that could do with a rethink. We might make different choices and consciously confront the Gemini tendency to scatter our energies. Don’t be hard on yourself if you get stuck and feel hesitant about taking action, as this too shall pass. This is an appropriate time to reassess and gain a better understanding of our impulses and motivations and the paths we take to get what we want from life. So go with the mutability of Gemini and slow down and think things through with care.

Venus moves into Sagittarius on the 16th of November placing value on honesty, freedom and the generous expression of affection. The very next day it is joined there by Mercury, bringing a need to establish connections through direct and open dialogue. The two planets meet up on the 22nd of November just hours before the Sun starts it annual visit to Sagittarius where it radiates an exploratory, open spirit. The New Moon follows shortly afterwards at 8:57 am on the 24th of November at 2 degrees of Sagittarius. The Sabian Symbol is White-capped Waves Display the Power of Wind over Sea; describing the mobilization of unconscious energies under the pressure of super-personal motives. This is a symbol of stabilization through rhythmic intensity. It is especially magical that Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, forms a harmonious trine with the Sun at the point that it is stationing to turn direct in Pisces. This brings spiritual protection and intuitive messages from our higher self. Following on from the intensity of recent Scorpio times we are now at an invigorating turning point. We are being connected with a new sense of hope and optimism. There is great potential for healing at this time especially with Chiron in Aries entering the fray. Just beware of over doing things.

The Full Moon occurs at 2:07 pm on the 8th of December with the Moon at 17 degrees of Gemini, symbolized as The Head of a Robust Youth Changes into that of a Mature Thinker. This speaks to the transformation of physical vitality into the power to build concepts and intellectual formulations through which knowledge can be transferred ─ a process of mental metamorphosis. There is an exact conjunction of retrograde Mars and the Moon within an hour of this Full Moon constituting the climax of the Mars retrograde journey. We can anticipate strong emotional reactions leading to a desire for action particularly in the communication, ideas and media space. Change is in the air and we are likely to embrace it!
