The Wounded Masculine, Vulnerability and Inter-dependence: An Aries New Moon

There’s no denying that we are moving into new territory as we approach the astrological New Year. Indeed the world is in unchartered territory with the heavy karmic sense of the end of the Age of Pisces. This has been brought to our recent attention through the Corona Virus and its relation to grief and the lungs. While structures and boundaries have been under the spotlight with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction we are now being presented with a new aspect of the idea of healthy boundaries. In this time of crisis we need to build our immunity, while realizing the importance of own interconnection with others.

Until the 22nd of March Saturn is in the final degree of Capricorn, lining up with its own South Node while sharing space with Pluto, Jupiter and Mars for the first time in a few thousand years, suggesting that a particularly anicient karma is currently being enacted on earth. This Capricorn degree is characterised as A Women Reading Tealeaves. Astrology recognizes that everything is related to everything else, and this Sabian Symbol goes to the ability to see the signature of hidden meaning in every occurrence that is drawing one’s attention.

A square between Chiron in Aries and the Nodes culminates from the 11th to the 22nd of March, highlighting the healing going on during this especially karmic time. Over the last 16 and the next few months, the future signalling North Node of the Moon is in Cancer with its opposite South Node in Capricorn. This is a time to nurture ourselves while acknowledging that we are being asked to heal the wounded masculine in us all. We are being invited to embody our inner warrior spirit, to take responsibility and to step into our soul purpose.

Mercury is moving forward and will be back in Pisces on the 17th of March, progressing beyond the territory it first traversed in the first half of February by the 30th of March. In the meantime there may be some breakthroughs in relation to communication issues which did not find resolution in the earlier perriod.

Saturn brings some fresh and less conventional air as it moves into new territory, entering Aquarius on the 22nd of March, turning the collective focus to our ideals and dreams for the future. Expect more activism and reaction against right-wing authority and a tilt towards technological innovation. It will remain in Aquarius until the 1st of July before briefly reentering Capricorn. Then in mid December Saturn will return in time for its 20 year meet-up with Jupiter, to seed a new world view and a new sense of social purpose. This is the first time they have met in the air element since the fourteenth century. Saturn was last in Aquarius between 1991 and 1994.

The annual entry of the Sun into Aries sets the astrological tone for the next three months, while marking the Spring Equinox, aka the Solar New Year. This time for new beginnings occurs at 2:49 pm on Friday the 20st of March. In Aries the Sun radiates forceful and confident vitality, and the energy is that of the explorer, the pioneer and the individual.

Mars moves through the late degrees of Capricorn joining forces with Jupiter on the 22nd of March and with Pluto the very next day. While the union of Mars with Jupiter provokes a great deal of enthusiasm, we may be confronted by the intensity of change or a darker energy when Mars meets Pluto. These are creative times in the lead up to the Aries New Moon.

This month’s New Moon occurs at 7:28pm on the 24th of March at the fifth degree of Aries which is characterized as A Triangle with Wings. This speaks to envisioning a new dimension, the capacity for self-transcendence and the desire to reach a higher level of existance. This is indeed an action oriented New Moon. The Sun and Moon join up with Chiron in its square to the Lunar Nodes, bringing the image of confronting and using our courage to push through and face our wounds and our mortality and to forgive other people and particularly ourselves in our imperfection.
