Anticipation at the Aquarius New Moon

The shift of the transiting nodes away from the Gemini-Sagittarius axis of truth and blind belief is now complete, with the mean nodes having joined the true nodes in Taurus and Scorpio on the 19th of January. The fixed energy of Taurus and Scorpio take us away from the mutable focus on facts versus fake news towards a collective karma narrative where we are in pursuit of the ‘real thing’ and taking action. At best we are in for deep healing around issues such as betrayal, sexual abuse and other misuses of power and pretty well everything that we would rather not face or talk about.

Scorpio’s ruler Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and will commence its advance into new ground in Aquarius in mid 2023. With the South Node moving into Scorpio our inherited collective karma is focused on taking back our power and letting go of deeply emotional material to do with how we share energies with or merge with others in relationship. With Plutonic Scorpio this will be a particularly deep cleanse and the transformation may feel like digging out deeply embedded roots. Meanwhile the North Node tells us what aspects of our lives we need to be valuing and claiming bringing a whole new collective narrative highlighting simplicity, values, habits, conscious intent, the physical body, the earth, resources and money.

Uranus in Taurus is now moving forward where it will join up with the North Node later this year. Venus stations to go direct on the 30th of January. Once Mercury changes direction a couple of days after the New Moon we will certainly be moving into new territory. From the 5th of February all the planets will be moving forwards until the end of April when Pluto once again goes retrograde.

While the Sun is now in freedom loving Aquarius, Saturn, closely beside the Sun and Moon when they connect to form the New Moon, continues to suggest something of a restrictive influence on our freedom. Venus, Mars, Mercury and Pluto are all in Saturn’s sign of Capricorn at this time. As somewhat of an optimistic counter-balance the Jupiter in Pisces effect is continuing to deepen our emotions, heighten our creativity, and encourage exciting spiritual awakenings on its journey to meet up with Neptune in April.

The New Moon occurs at 3:45 pm on the 1st of February at 13 degrees of Aquarius. It ushers in the Chinese Year of the Water Tiger which is said to be a year for bold action.  The degree of the New Moon is described as A Barometer.  It references the ability to discover basic material facts that allow us to plan in advance for action. This sounds like a welcome change after a month where planning has for so many been so challenging and we are being taught a big lesson about control.

This rather exciting New Moon is not only in the sign of Aquarius but also squares Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius. Once again expect the unexpected at this time which resonates with themes of freedom, egalitarianism, the higher mind and strong futuristic energies of truth.  A harmonious sextile between Jupiter and Mars at the New Moon speaks to initiating new projects with courage. While New Moons are always good for planning this is a great time to be inventive and to liberate yourself from whatever is keeping you stuck.
